Catton, Sharon Eileen (Trainor) of Spring Park passed away peacefully 12/27/2020. Sharon is preceded in death by her mother and father Helen and James Trainor. Survived by her husband Richard (Dick) Catton, children Dave (Kris) Catton, Jennifer (Aaron) Smith, grandkids Mike (Dani) Catton, Katelin Catton, Jack, Sam & Robert Smith, great-granddaughter Emberly Catton. Siblings Neil (Barb) Trainor, Brian (Lesli) Trainor, Wendy, Meg (Don) Trainor Borsch, and much-loved extended family and friends. Sharon was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and fought a courageous and dignified battle.
A life celebration will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Church on Friday July 30th. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. followed by funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be served immediately after mass in the presentation room connected to the church.

Sharon moved to the Mound area with her family, attended OLL through 8th grade, was a 1959 grad of MWHS, then attended MSU where she received her BS in education, and met her husband of 57 years. After she completed her degree, she was married at OLL. She loved children and enjoyed teaching in the Mound school district. Her passions included gardening, golfing, playing cribbage, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Sharon was an active and involved citizen in her community. Some of her favorite volunteer opportunities include a reading tutor, a Brownie & Girl Scout leader, she started the first church library at OLL, was a CCW president, co-chaired the OLL Fall Boutique fundraiser, and served on a funeral team there. Sharon is much loved, will be dearly missed and remembered for her love of her friends and family and dedication to serving others.
