May 26, 2020

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

For many weeks, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis has been in Phase I of liturgy during the pandemic.  As Minnesota begins to allow limited re-opening of churches for public liturgy, Our Lady of the Lake is planning to transition to Phase II.  I ask for everyone’s patience as we roll out the many changes necessary to ensure the spiritual and physical health of our parish family.  Please know that the Obligation to attend Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation continues to be suspended until further notice.

Beginning Saturday, May 30, 2020, Our Lady of the Lake will resume public Masses with a modified schedule and necessary precautions to manage numbers and safety:

  • Persons over age 65 and those with preexisting health conditions should stay home or consider attending the drive-up Mass on Sunday.
  • If you or someone in your family is showing any symptoms of sickness, you should not come to Church.
  • All parishioners will enter through Door 8 (PACE Center Glass Doors.)  You may need to wait to enter or exit the Church to maintain social distancing. For Saturday Mass, please follow the direction of the greeters and ushers.  For daily Mass, please seat yourself following social distancing guidelines.
  • Please remain 6 feet away from other families and refrain from public gatherings while on the church premises.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance.
  • All parishioners are REQUIRED to wear masks.
  • For the time being, kneelers will NOT be used nor will we have congregational singing.
  • We will have a maximum of two hundred people for the Saturday 5pm Mass.  (Please sign-up electronically at and bring your email confirmation to Mass, or call the Church Office Monday – Thursday from 9:00am – Noon to reserve your spot.) Please sign up every individual who will be attending. A worship aid will be emailed to you if you sign up electronically.  Feel free to bring this along with you to Mass.  Worship Aids or Bulletins will not be handed out.
  • Ushers will guide you to a seat ensuring social distancing.
  • An offering basket will be available as you exit.
  • Holy Communion will be distributed as you exit Mass.  Please wait for the usher to dismiss your pew.  Holy Communion will now be distributed at our drive-in Mass.
  • The faithful are recommended to receive Communion in the hand.  Wearing gloves or using tongs to distribute Communion is unbecoming of the Blessed Sacrament.  Nor may the faithful wear gloves when receiving Communion in the hand, nor receive it in a paper tissue, plate, cup, or other disposable item.

New Schedule Effective Saturday, May 30
