Our Lady of the Lake wants to welcome you to 2025-2026 Faith Formation. Below you will find information regarding both Plunge and Immerse programs. Don't forget about monthly Parent Formation Nights!

Wednesday Night Overview- 6:00 p.m. Dinner
- 6:30 p.m. Whole Group Opening Prayer
- 6:35 p.m. Break out into age groups of Plunge & Immerse
- 7:05 p.m. Plunge and Immerse switch spaces
- 7:35 p.m. All to Church for prayer or Sacristy for Mass education
- 7:45 p.m. End for the night
- $100 for a single student
- $150 for two students
- $200 family max amount for three or more students
- ***addition $50 for students receiving sacraments (2nd graders preparing for First Reconciliation and First Communion)

Formation Programs

Plunge1st - 4th GradesDuring the school year on Wednesday nights, 1st - 4th graders will come together for a fun evening including a meal, games, faith education and sacramental preparation. After an opportunity to have a meal with family and friends, the children will break out into small groups viewing a short presentation which lasts about 30 minutes. Small groups then move to the gym for about 30 minutes for games in the gym. The night closes out with 10-15 minuets of prayer/adoration in the church or Mass education in the sacristy.

Immerse5th - 8th GradesDuring the school year on Wednesday nights, 5th - 8th graders will come together for a fun evening including a meal, games, and ongoing faith formation. After an opportunity to have a meal with family and friends, the middle schoolers will start with 30 minutes of games in the gym. They then sit for a short lesson and small groups in the Presentation Room for about 30 minutes. The night closes out with 10-15 minuets of prayer/adoration in the church or Mass education in the sacristy.

Parent NightsFirst Wednsday of the month.Parent Nights are all about investing in that unique responsibility that God places on parents to be the first and foremost elder disciple showing The Way and sharing the good news of the Gospel. The lessons learned in Faith Formation can have a greater impact on the moral life of a child if the parents in the child's life are also living their life of faith alongside them. We want to give you as parents the tools and confidence to listen to have engaging conversations with your children about Jesus, the Catholic Church, the Bible, etc.
- All families are welcome to join for dinner.
- Parents break out from the children and go to their own informative and educational formation night. Parents are provided information about the lessons for their children for the upcoming month.
- Children join parents to finish out the night with 10-15 minuets of prayer/adoration in the church.
"Education in the faith by the parents should begin in the child's earliest years. This already happens when family members help one another to grow in faith by the witness of a Christian life in keeping with the Gospel. Family catechesis precedes, accompanies, and enriches other forms of instruction in the faith. Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God. The parish is the Eucharistic community and the heart of the liturgical life of Christian families; it is a privileged place for the catechesis of children and parents.
Children in turn contribute to the growth in holiness of their parents. Each and everyone should be generous and tireless in forgiving one another for offenses, quarrels, injustices, and neglect. Mutual affection suggests this. the charity of Christ demands it."

reasons for Approach
-
- Better games with more students.
- Schedule expends energy making it easier for students to listen during the short lesson.
- Short lessons with simple to follow points are easier for students to remember and are more likely to stick with them.
- Small groups can be smaller without extra Catechists making it easier for everyone to be involved in the conversation and split up students who may create distractions.
- Take pressure off catechists and cuts out their need to prepare lessons each week.
- Catechists are still able to teach if they'd like by don't have a weekly need.
- Allows Catechists to focus on building relationships with students by facilitation small group conversations rather than teaching. Conversation helps students to see how lessons apply to their own lives.
- Allows flexibility in schedule to discuss current events that may pertain to and/or be on students' minds.
