WHAT A BLAST...

What a community!  We are blessed.  For Claudia Lacy, Kathy Timberg and Maureen Trenary, who conceived the idea of an OLL Block Party and organized the event, we are forever grateful.  For all the committee chairs and their volunteers, the SLB could not have happened without you!

God Bless,

WHAT A  BLAST Saturday night turned out to be! Divine intervention stepped in and delivered a glorious evening. Kathy Timberg and I sat under the overhang by the statute of Mary and wondered how we would make it through what promised to be a dismal evening. An ache was forming in the pit of my stomach as I worried how we would fund all the dreams we had for our school.  At 2:00pm, when things were at their worst, Kathy and I just burst out laughing (you know, that laugh that comes when everything starts falling apart?)  I went home and wondered if I’d come back. I was sure nobody else would.  At 4:00pm I headed back to the site and wondered what lay in store. By some small miracle, the skies parted, the rain stopped and the sun shone at exactly 5:00pm as the gates opened.

great community spirit!

AND THE SKY PARTED...
The rest is history.  Thousands came, broke bread with their friends and neighbors, and danced.  But mostly, they smiled! I’ve never felt more proud to be a part of this Catholic Community and of this town.  The entire Starlight Blast committee (and many of their spouses) worked all night serving our parishioners and guests.  Our Sponsors, who you have seen in the bulletin for the last few months, were treated to a very special VIP section.  Although, the Sponsors raved about their special area, most of the time you could find them out in the crowd serving as well.  As I said, it was an incredible night.  If you supported the BLAST, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  If you did not attend, please come next year!  Mark your calendars now for next year’s event - May 3rd, 2008.  It’s sure to be wonderful and full of surprises

Thank you and God Bless,

Claudia Lacy – 2007 Starlight Blast Chair
