Guidelines for Snack Families
When it is your turn to be the "Snack Family"...

It is your turn to be the "Snack Family"!!!  In that we are licensed under Rule 3, there are some requirements for snacks.  The snacks must be store bought and the first ingredient on crackers must be enriched flour.  As a program, we would like to provide as many healthy snacks as possible to your children.  You may bring the snacks one day at a time or all at once, we have plenty of room for storage (dry, freezer and refrigerator).  How much do you need??  The box or container will generally inform you of the amount per serving and the approximate or total servings.  Otherwise a rule of thumb is that each student receives 30 grams of dry food, 1/2 fruit, 1/2 slice of bread, 1/2 cup vegetables, and so on, depending on the item.  It is important to check the label to provide the right amount.  As for how many students per class:  The M/W/F morning class has 12 students, the afternoon class currently has 6 students and the T/Th class has 5 students.

Check the calendar for your family's snack dates.

***NOTE:  We may have students with Peanut Allergies.***
*** We do have students with lactose intolerance/allergies***

If you do have questions about a possible snack food, please ask.  Bright Beginnings will provide a drink of milk or juice.  If you are unable to shop, you may send $30 to school and staff will shop for you.

And birthdays...We love celebrating birthdays!  If your child has a birthday or 1/2 birthday, you are welcome to bring your child's favorite healthy snack to share with the class.  How about sweets?  Mini cup cakes, doughnut holes or small ice cream treats are accepted.

As always, thank you for your support and enthusiasm!!!
